Teleconference Townhall: Female Condoms of Today and Tomorrow: Strategy Call on R&D Advocacy
Washington, DC / September 30, 2010
Over the years, prevention advocates have learned that no single method is going to be preferred or used by everyone, and that choice is important to users. The same is true of female condoms. Even though the female condom is a relatively young product, there are several female condom models currently available on public or private markets in some countries, the most well-known and widely distributed being the Female Health Company’s U.S. FDA-approved FC2. In addition, entirely new female condoms, such as the Woman’s Condom, are in development and are undergoing clinical trials. But what does it mean when a female condom is in development phases, and how can advocates help get new female condoms into the hands of consumers?
